Over the years, the GRWSA has helped thousands of youths and adults participate in nearly every sport imaginable - from hockey to rock climbing to water-skiing and much more. Susan G. Komen Foundation
Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan's compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested nearly $1.5 billion since inception in 1982. As the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we're working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

Ride of Their Lives
Our goal is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities through physical activity. The children who participate are usually among the most physically disabled, and providing stimulating, safe activities is often a challenge. The Ride of Their Lives not only benefits these children, but also the athletes, who gain the experience of an added challenge while making new relationships. The children not only become the inspiration for the athlete, but the motivation as well.

The Ride of Their Lives was started by Brian Stauffer. After racing in triathlons for over twenty years, always going for the big win or being in the top few, he grew tired of the intensity. He came up with the idea after seeing Dick and Rick Hoyt race in Ironman triathlons, and parents pushing their kids in local races. He thought it would be fun to give more children an opportunity while giving athletes a chance to “give back" too. He contacted therapists from two local special education schools to help him recruit students who would most benefit from this type of experience.
